Syllabus
In general, the employees are the most valuable resource of a company. In comparison to the general German Civil Law the establishment, the performance and the termination of an employment contract have a wide variety of specifics . The lecture is focused on the Individual Labor Law, which characterizes the individual labor contract. Questions of Collective Labor Law are also part of the lecture, especially the rights of co-determination of the works council.
Objectives
The students get to know the legal possibilities and limits, so as to enable them to realistically assess the relevance of their own position. As an employee or a member of the executive staff they will be aware of the rules of the Employee Protection Law. For an employer, such rules are very important too, especially when it comes to business decisions. For students who plan to work in human resources departments this knowledge is indispensable. Students will gain basic knowledge on how to hire employees, the performance of labor contracts as well as the ending.
