The seminar primarily targets PhD students in economics and business administration as well as advanced master students who are interested in an academic career. The participants learn how to successfully master different stages of publication processes in high-quality journals. Finally, the students learn how to constructively review papers and how to respond to the reviewers’ comments. The course size is limited to 20 participants.

Teaching Objectives

  • Design academic research for publication in top journals
  • Effectively interpret and respond to reviewer comments

  • Summary of target journals, and justification (written assessment, approx. 300 words): 5%
  • Contribution to in-class discussions: 10%
  • Manuscript reviews (written assessment, approx. 4000 words): 40%
  • Response to Reviewers (written assessment, approx. 2000 words): 30%
  • In-class presentation (10 minutes): 15%
